ENTAMA 2026: a program to boost local development in Iberia

2026 marks a key milestone in the evolution of ENTAMA.

After several years of growth and learning, the programme has established itself as an Iberian initiative, fully integrated into EDP’s Community Engagement strategy in Spain and Portugal, with the aim of continuing to promote entrepreneurial projects with socio-economic impact and job creation potential in the territories where the company operates.

In 2026, ENTAMA is strengthening its commitment to local communities, supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs in the region in the development of initiatives that contribute to a fair, inclusive energy transition that generates opportunities.

A programme open all year round, with specific calls to action by region

As a notable new feature, ENTAMA will remain open throughout the year, organised through specific calls to action by geographical area, aligned with EDP’s priority areas of action and its energy projects.

March 2026 | Spain: Asturias and Cádiz

The 2026 calendar begins in March in Spain, with calls for proposals in Asturias and Cádiz, maintaining the territorial focus of previous editions.

  • Asturias

Priority will be given to the same municipalities defined in previous calls for proposals:

–  Municipalities included in the Caudal–Aboño Just Transition Agreement.

– Municipalities with EDP hydroelectric power plants.

– Municipalities of the Just Transition Agreement for South-West Asturias.

  • Cádiz

The call will focus on the municipalities of the Los Barrios–Campo de Gibraltar Just Transition Agreement.

May–June 2026 | Portugal: Tejo region

During May and June, ENTAMA will arrive in Portugal, with a call to action in the Tejo region, aimed at municipalities with:

  • EDP hydraulic assets
  • other renewable projects in operation or development

This phase reinforces the Iberian dimension of the programme and EDP’s commitment to local development in the Portuguese territories where it operates.

September–October 2026 | New areas in Spain and Portugal

In the final stretch of the year, September and October, ENTAMA will open new calls to action in:

  • Areas of Spain and Portugal with renewable projects
  • Municipalities with relevant electricity distribution projects in Spain

These calls for proposals will enable the programme to expand its reach to new territories and continue to identify initiatives with transformative potential.

ENTAMA 2025: a key year for joint growth

The year 2025 marked a turning point for ENTAMA, as it became a programme developed in a coordinated manner in Spain and Portugal.

During May and June 2025, a first call for action was held in Asturias, Cádiz and Gerês, marking the 1st edition of ENTAMA in Portugal, together with the 6th edition in Spain.

This first phase resulted in 17 new ENTAMA projects (7 in Asturias, 4 in Cádiz and 6 in Gerês), after receiving more than 40 applications.

In September 2025, ENTAMA launched a second joint call for action in Spain and Portugal, expanding its reach to new areas.

This second phase closed with 48 applications under evaluation, analysed by a multidisciplinary jury from EDP, which resulted in 16 new ENTAMA projects: 4 projects selected in Burgos, 4 in Cantabria, 2 in Lugo (the first time that projects have been registered and approved in this province) and 6 projects in municipalities in the Portuguese Douro region.

Thanks to all these additions in 2025, ENTAMA has reached a total of 89 supported projects, with a cumulative investment of €875,000 and an estimated impact of 400 jobs created (aggregated on an annual basis).
